Baby Thank You cards

Well, today will officially be my first day back to work after maternity leave.  I will miss my little man greatly today.  I wanted to share a thank you card that I put together for my baby shower gifts.  I made two versions of this card, a green and a blue, but I used up all the cards before I realized that I hadn't taken a picture for my blog!!  This is all I had left.

I started by using Stampin Up Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue card stock which are both now retired.  :(  I then embossed each with the Stampin Up Cloud embossing folder which you can currently get on the clearance rack on Stampin Up!'s website.

I then cut the baby on page 43 from the Cricut Baby Steps cartridge.  I did not cut out the face.  I used Peachy Keen Stamps baby faces for the face of the baby.  I also colored in the eyes with a white gel pen.  I added a little pink chalk to the cheeks too that you can't see in the photo because I took a picture with my iphone and I'm not realizing they aren't that great!  I embossed the baby's outfit with the swiss dots folder. The sentiment is a retired SU! set punched with the word window and modern label punches.

I made almost 50 of these and I used all but this one!  Hopefully my day will go well and I'll be home before I know it!  Thanks for looking!

My Last Baby Shower.....For a While At Least

So my BFF was having her third child and she had NEVER had an official baby shower!!  Can you believe that?!?  I couldn't!!  I told her that even though she was having her third girl that she still deserved a baby shower.  So, I hosted one for her.  Here are some of the pics.  It was a Jungle Jill themed shower.  I did a lot of my usual, just with ALOT of pink!! :)

The food table.  I made hair bows and used them to clip up the pink table cloths

centerpieces

The so cute cake, tutu punch bowl, and the diaper cake

Not my best work.....it looked much better on Pinterest and in my mind
The sign in table with the purse favor boxes (giraffe & zebra print options) as well as the glass block light for the baby's room

Owl Baby Shower

I know it's been forever since I have posted and I don't want to bore you with all the excuses as to why I haven't blogged in a few months, so...... My sister welcomed her second child into the world in October. She is a precious baby girl and we are all enjoying every bit of her! I hosted a baby shower for my sister back in August (the weekend before school started!! I know I'm crazy!!). Here are some pictures from that!

Lets just say that since my discovery of pinterest, I have way cuter projects!!

Pinterest inspired favor owl boxes and an owl paper lantern
The beautiful cake
Another pinterest inspiration.  A mobile made with cricut cuts
Elegant diaper cake
Hospital door wreath.  (We used a paint pen to add the details after Abby was born)

Thanks so much for stopping by.  If you have any questions, please let me know! Thanks

Cupcake Baby Shower

My latest baby shower was cupcake themed.  If you've followed my blog for some time, or if you know me personally, you've probably guessed that I take the theme and run with it.  This time I had two other sweet friends helping with this endeavor.  Here are some pictures from the party.

This was a Pinterest idea.  A 100 ct. light string with colored strips of tulle tied onto it:

Tissue paper pom-pom balls:

The cupcake diaper cake:

Cupcake liner topiary.  We did 4 total of these:

Of course cupcakes for the sweets!  I made the cupcake picks:

Another Pinterest idea.  The baby's name is Mollie so we made a letter "M" from cupcake liners with some added embellishments:

Baby Cradle Favor

Ok, so I think it was Cricut's January's Hello Thursday release that I really loved.  I have become a "shower queen" and when I saw this cartridge, I knew that I had to have it.  I totally could have used the Bridal Shower cartridge about a year ago when I was doing my sister's wedding shower, but anyway I just stuck with the baby shower one.

As I said in my Sunday post, I'm helping host a baby shower for a friend at church.  I played this past weekend with a few options and this is another option that I came up with.  This cut in itself is why I bought the cartridge.  I know it's a bit silly to buy a cartridge for really one cut, but I'm in love with this cut for real!!  I know this is not the last baby shower I will be crafting for!!!!

The nursery colors are lavender and coral mainly with accents of chocolate, bright pink, bright yellow, and a pool blue.  I really like how this cuts out and how cute it is.  I still don't know what to put in it though.  Maybe a nice pouch of Hershey's dark chocolate Kisses (because they come in a dark purple wrapper???)

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thanks for looking!!!

Cupcake Favors

I am helping host a baby shower for a sweet lady in my church along with a friend of mine.  Of course we are making everything that we can and only buying things that we cannot make!

I got into my scrapbook room this weekend (for some much needed therapy) and came up with a couple of ideas for shower favors.  The baby's room will be done in cupcakes which is why our theme for the shower is cupcakes.  The main colors are lavender and coral.  I bought the sweet tooth cricut projects cartridge several months ago and this is my first time to play with it!

So, what do you think?  I think this is my favorite option so far.  I still don't have a clue what to put in it????  Later this week I'll post the second favor item that I made.

Check back over the next few weeks.  I'm sure that I'll have many more fun projects for this shower to show you.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thanks for stopping by!

Caleb's Birthday Cards

For my friend's shower, she wanted one of her guests to write a birthday message for each year until he is 18.  I think this is a wonderful idea!  We will pass the cards out to the guests, they will write a personalized message to Caleb, and seal the envelope.  His mother will give him his cards each year on his birthday.

Since these are going to be "special" birthday cards, I wanted them to match so that Caleb would always know that these are his "special" birthday cards.  I used my Create a Critter cricut cartridge for the cupcake and the divine swirls cuttlebug embossing folder for the cupcake frosting.  I pulled ot my AWESOME copic marker and colored the numbers to match the card patterned paper.  All of the patterned paper is from Stampin' Up! Since I used my Gypsy, it was really easy to weld the candle numbers to the cupcake base and then cut everything out to match perfectly!!  Thanks for looking!  If you have any questions, please let me know!!!

Here are a couple of close ups!

If you click on the group pictures, they will show up larger.

Lollipop Washcloth Arrangement

I have posted a version of this before on my blog. You can view it HERE. This was also made for my sister-in-laws shower as part of her decorations. All the decorations I made were also my gift to her (along with a few other things!) I just love showers!!!

Supplies:

  • 1 pkg of baby washcloths
  • 1 pkg of baby spoons/forks
  • curling ribbon
  • 1 container
  • cricut cuts
  • floral wire
  • basket shred
  • 1/2" ribbon
  • cellophane bags (I used Stampin' Up! small flat cellophane bags item # 103104)

Steps:
  1. unfold a washcloth
  2. begin to fold it in about 1" until you have a long roll
  3. curl the folded washcloth in on itself until you have formed the lollipop portion (looks like a spiral)
  4. put the fork/spoon onto the back to create the 'stick'
  5. place in the cellophane bag
  6. tie at base of washcloth with curling ribbon
  7. place basket shred into continer
  8. arrange lollipops in container with cricut cuts

Baby Shower Banner

Continuing with all the goodies that I made for the baby shower, here is a welcome banner that we hung above the cake table.
Supplies:

  • cardstock in 4 different colors. Here is what I used *all from Stampin' Up!*: bashful blue, certainly celery, chocolate chip, not quite navy
  • tie the knot cricut cartridge
  • a child's year cricut cartridge
  • 1 roll of 1/2" ribbon
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • 1 3/4" circle punch
  • paper trimmer
  • scallop edge punch *Stampin' Up!*
  • score-pal
  • crop-a-dile
  • cuttlebug folder (fleur de lis)
  • sticky strip (red tape)

Steps:
  1. cut the scallop pennants using the tie the knot cartridge. I cut three from a 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of not quite navy cardstock
  2. cut the inside portion of the pennant from certainly celery cardstock
  3. run the green inside portions through the cuttlebug to emboss them
  4. attach the green embossed paper to the not quite navy paper
  5. cut 1 1/2" X 11"strips of bashful blue cardstock **you need one for each pennant**
  6. punch one side of the strip with the Stampin' Up! scallop edge punch
  7. using the score-pal (or other scoring board, trimmer) score between each scallop
  8. accordion fold the strip on each score line.
  9. wrap ends of blue strip around and attach using sticky strip tape. **make sure that you attach the ends together while keeping the accordion shape matched up
  10. punch a 1 3/4" circle from the bashful blue cardstock
  11. attach hot glue to the circle and push the accordion strip down to form a circle shape. Hold until the glue dries.
  12. cut out welcome and the baby's name and attach each letter to the blue accordion fold you just created **I attached mine with hot glue**
  13. attach the blue accordion accent to the center of the pennant
  14. punch a hole in each corner of the pennant
  15. thread each pennant onto the ribbon leaving enough for spacing between words and enough to hang on the ends.
  16. step back and admire your creativity!!!
Thanks for looking and if you have any questions, please let me know!

Diaper Cake--How To

Well, this is my fourth diaper cake to make. My husband said that I need to start selling these! We shall see about that! I have included how-to instructions with pictures in case you are needing to make one of these yourself. These instructions are for a 3 tier diaper cake which requires 2 pkgs of diapers. I have also made a smaller version that is 2 tiers and only requires 1 pkg of diapers.

Supplies:

  • 1 14" cardboard cake round
  • 1 pkg of newborn diapers
  • 1 pkg of size 1 diapers
  • 1 bottle of baby wash-28 oz
  • 1 bottle of bedtime baby wash-9 oz
  • 1 bottle of bedtime baby lotion-9oz
  • 1 bottle of bedtime baby wash-4 oz
  • 1 bottle of bedtime baby lotion-4oz
  • 1 pkg of newborn pacifiers
  • 1 pkg of 0-3 month pacifiers
  • large rubber bands
  • small rubber bands
  • 1 pkg of basket shred
  • bamboo skewers
  • floral wire
  • cricut cuts
  • 1 1/4" ribbon
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
Steps:
  1. begin by rolling all the diapers and secure with a small rubber band. I roll them folded from bottom to top.
  2. for this cake, I used the newborn diapers in the middle b/c they were white and put the size one on the outside **I decided to do this after I took the picture**
  3. place the large bottle of baby wash in the center of the cake round and place the two 9 oz bottles on either side if it. Put a large rubber band around all bottles
  4. start arranging the diapers around the baby wash, placing them inside the rubber band. This way all the diapers will be secure as you place them. Make sure that you leave an edge along the cake round. Do not place the diapers all the way to the edge.
  5. add another rubber band to the top of the bottles.
  6. start adding your second tier of diapers
  7. you want to add until you can only see the outer layer of the bottom diapers
  8. add your two four oz bottles around the large baby wash bottle
  9. put a rubber band around these
  10. begin adding your last tier of diapers. The 4 oz bottles with stick out at the top, and that is ok. It gives you a place to add your topping!
  11. for the top decoration, I cut a piece of Styrofoam to fit between the two 4 oz bottles
  12. attach the cricut cuts by placing the wire into the styrofoam
  13. cover the styrofoam and bottle lids with basket shred
  14. place the pacifiers along the top row by pushing the "handle" part down into a fold of the diaper.
  15. wrap the 1 1/4" ribbon around the center of each tier to hide the rubber bands. You can tie it in a knot or a bow and trim the ends. You can also glue end to end to hide to make a smooth ribbon wrap.
  16. attach cricut cuts to the ribbon with a hot glue gun
  17. begin putting basket shred between the tiers by gently lifting up and stuffing the shred between the layers. (I put the bottom layer of basket shred on when it was placed on the table at the shower)
  18. step back and admire your creativity.
Helpful Tips:
  • don't glue anything together or to the diapers. If you do, mommy won't be able to use them or take it apart!
  • put the rough edges of the rolled diapers on the inside so that you have a clean look on the outside.
