Birthday Card

I have finally had some time to get back into my craft room and get some things done.  I am trying to catch up on my Project Life, and I have two and a half months left in 2016 to finish.
My sister's birthday was this month, so I decided to make her a card.  I pulled out a Stampin' Up! set called Sprinkles of Life along with some inks and created this card.

I used the Stampin' Up! colors Melon Mambo and an oldie Lucky Limeade.  I also used Lawn Fawn's Quinn's 123s for the numbers and Simon Says Stamp It's No Secret set for the happy birthday greeting.  I have hoarded this Mambo Melon pom-pom trim for a long time, and this card needed something.  The trim added the perfect little touch to the cupcake.  I just used a sponge dauber to add the ink to the stamped images before I cut them out.

I pulled out an old Technique Tuesday set called Turn 29 for the inside sentiment and I really like how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a good summer!

Birthday Card Swaps

So school is going to start soon and before I know it, I'll be back to work with no time on my hands.  I decided now was a great time to build up my swap supply of cards for the next few months.  FYI swaps are cards that I make for a monthly stamp group that I attend.  We each make 12 of the same card and bring it to our meeting.  We then "swap" cards so we will all come home with 12 cards that are different.  I use these cards as ideas or to send out when needed.

I was browsing Splitcoast Stampers the other day looking for a bit of inspiration.  I haven't pulled out my Crazy for Cupcakes Stampin' Up! set in quite some time, so I decided it would make a perfect swap card.  I found several cards that were lovely, but this one caught my eye.  I, however, did not want to hand cut all of the images so I decided to use this lovely invention to help me out!!

Well, I'm falling in LOVE with my Silhouette even more!!!  So the silhouette has this great Trace feature on it.  (Don't get me wrong!  I still love my Cricut too, but this is something that my Cricut cannot do!)  Here's what I did:
     * I stamped the images from this Crazy for Cupcakes Stampin' Up! set onto plain, white copy paper.
     * I then scanned the page into my computer and created a .jpeg file.
*I then used the fabulous 'trace' feature in the silhouette software and traced the outer edges of each image.
*I also used the 'offset' feature and created a little "border" around the stamp lines.
*I went back and deleted the original traced image, copied the offset image about 12 times, lined up all 12 images onto my paper, then cut the images out.

I LOVED that I did not have to "fussy cut" around all of the cupcakes and balloons that I used on these cards.  I am NOT a very patient fussy cutter, nor am I very good at it, so this was AWESOME!!!!

After all of the stamping fun, I colored in the images with my Pink Pirouette, Cool Caribbean, Smoky Slate, So Saffron, and Only Orange SU! markers.  I also coated the sprinkles, the flame, and the balloon with SU! glitter glue.  I used an embossing folder to emboss the pink paper on the one side, stamped the greeting at the bottom of the other with smoky slate ink and called it done!!!

Cupcake Baby Shower

My latest baby shower was cupcake themed.  If you've followed my blog for some time, or if you know me personally, you've probably guessed that I take the theme and run with it.  This time I had two other sweet friends helping with this endeavor.  Here are some pictures from the party.

This was a Pinterest idea.  A 100 ct. light string with colored strips of tulle tied onto it:

Tissue paper pom-pom balls:

The cupcake diaper cake:

Cupcake liner topiary.  We did 4 total of these:

Of course cupcakes for the sweets!  I made the cupcake picks:

Another Pinterest idea.  The baby's name is Mollie so we made a letter "M" from cupcake liners with some added embellishments:

Birthday Cupcakes

Last year I used a cheesy birthday chart for displaying student birthdays in my classroom. This year I decided that I wanted to create something better! I was inspired by a fellow crafter at http://scrappychicteacher.blogspot.com/ to create monthly cupcakes for student birthdays.

I used the Doodlecharms cricut cartridge to creat the cupcakes. I used some Stampin' Up! retired and not retired papers for the icing. I ran them through the cuttlebug with the swirls embossing folder to add dimension to the icing. I used the Designer's Calendar cartridge for the month labels (these were perfect b/c they were already welded together and I could size them to fit onto the base of my cupcake perfectly!)

I used the candle from the Wild Card cartridge and cut it out on the colored paper and then again on the yellow. I cut off the bottom of the candle on the yellow paper and then layered it onto the colored candle. (I know the Gypsy has the hide/contour feature, but this candle image is one cut, not separate, so that's how I solved that problem).

They look so cute on the wall!! If you have any questions, please let me know!! Thanks for looking!!!
