Baby Thank You cards

Well, today will officially be my first day back to work after maternity leave.  I will miss my little man greatly today.  I wanted to share a thank you card that I put together for my baby shower gifts.  I made two versions of this card, a green and a blue, but I used up all the cards before I realized that I hadn't taken a picture for my blog!!  This is all I had left.

I started by using Stampin Up Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue card stock which are both now retired.  :(  I then embossed each with the Stampin Up Cloud embossing folder which you can currently get on the clearance rack on Stampin Up!'s website.

I then cut the baby on page 43 from the Cricut Baby Steps cartridge.  I did not cut out the face.  I used Peachy Keen Stamps baby faces for the face of the baby.  I also colored in the eyes with a white gel pen.  I added a little pink chalk to the cheeks too that you can't see in the photo because I took a picture with my iphone and I'm not realizing they aren't that great!  I embossed the baby's outfit with the swiss dots folder. The sentiment is a retired SU! set punched with the word window and modern label punches.

I made almost 50 of these and I used all but this one!  Hopefully my day will go well and I'll be home before I know it!  Thanks for looking!

Caterpillar Card

As you may know, I'm a first grade teacher.  I love my job and my students are always very special to me.  This is my third year to teach and every year I send a card to my students in their final report card.  I don't tell them about it so I never know what they think of it.  I had a student come up to me about three weeks before school was out and tell me that they still had their card from last year and that they kept it in a special place and looked at it often.  That sure did make me feel good!!!!

Anyway, I do a different card every year for my students.  This year, I used the caterpillar from Create a Critter cricut cartridge.  I also used Locker Talk and hid some of the outer shaped from the first grade sign cut and welded it into a rectangle.  This was one less layer I had to cut by had b/c the cricut did it for me!!!  The letters are not make to cut out completely on this image so I took a silver sharpie marker and traced them in.

I used the Peachy Keen Stamps critter XL face stamps for the caterpillar.  I thank ran the caterpillar through my big shot with the Tim Holtz notebook embossing folder to give the caterpillar some "wrinkles."  I used SU! red dazzling diamonds glitter glue on the nose and orange stickles on the antennae.  I decided to glue on some google eyes to make it more fun for the kids.

If you have any questions, let me know!! Thanks for looking!!!

Retirement Crayon Card

This has most definitely been a VERY busy school year and I haven't had much time for crafting.  I did have a few projects that I needed to get completed the last few weeks of May.  Now that summer break is officially here, I have time to share them with you.

One of my fellow teachers retired this year after 36 years of teaching!!  I wanted to make her a card that would be very special and memorable.  At our school, our Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade classrooms are on one hallway and we always do things together.  I knew that the card needed to be big enough to have lots of room for everyone to write.

This card is an entire sheet of 8 1/2 X 11 card stock and folded in half.  I needed plenty of room, not only for the inside comments, but I needed it to be large enough to make the crayon pack work on the front.  All of the first grade teachers doors are marked with a colored crayon that hangs from the ceiling in front of our doors.  This helps students get to the correct room for various activities throughout the year.  Since there were six of us this year I thought it would be cute to put all of our color crayons in the pack on the front.  I used Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More cricut cartridge for the crayon box and I used A Child's Year for the crayons themselves.

I decided to make the crayons note cards for each of us to write on. I welded two crayons together with my Gypsy to make a "card."  I then cut out two white inserts that were just smaller than the shape itself to make it easier to write on for the darker colors.  All 5 of these were removable and only the purple crayon (the color of the retiring teacher) was fixed to the crayon box.  After I put them together they looked really plain so I pulled out my Peachy Keen Stamps face stamps and my white gel pen and made them look much cuter!!!  (love those PKS face stamps!)

To finish the crayon box I used the first grade sign from the Locker Talk cartridge and cut it out twice, once in black and again in pink.  This cut is designed to not cut the letters out completely so I took my craft knife and got after the pink and layered it on top of the black.

I used various Stampin' Up! stamps, punches, and DCWV paper to finish off the card.  If you have any questions, let me know!  Thanks for looking!!!
