PKS Let's Face it Friday Challenge--Shape Card

The latest Let's Face it Friday Challenge over at the Peachy Keen Stamps blog is a shape card.  I have a friend who just bought her first house and I needed a card to go with her housewarming gift.  This challenge was perfect for it! 

Since I didn't win the faces in the last challenge (LOL), I used  my Everyday Paper Dolls face assortment set for the face on the heart.  I then covered the heart and the tulips with glossy accents to add some texture.  I used liquid pearls for the door knob.  If you have any questions, please let me know!  Thanks for looking!

PKS-Let's Face It Friday-So Punny!

Ok, I admit....this is my first time to create a card like this....ever.  I really want to win the PKS Basic Paper Doll Assortment Face set!!  It is so cute!  I only have the Everyday Character Face Assortment and I NEED the Basic Face Assortment to use for all my paper doll and other creations!!!  LOL!!! 

I am entering this card into the Let's Face It Friday-So Punny! Challenge over at the PKS challenge blog.  For all the info, click HERE.  All you have to do is link up a card using a pun sentiment and a PKS face stamp.  I had no idea where to start, but I found this older Stampin' Up! set (One Smart Cookie) that I thought would be perfect.  That's really where I got my idea.  I looked for a bunch of grapes on my cricut cartridges, but I don't own a cartridge with a bunch of grapes!  Oh no, what to do?!?!  Improvise and make your own!!  I punched the circles with a 3/4" circle punch and layered them together to look like a bunch of grapes.  I cut the leaves from the 50 states cartridge and created my own stem.  I tried out an embossing folder technique that I saw Christina do a couple of weeks ago.  I think this card came out really cute!!  I need to pull out those face assortment sets and use them more often.  If my number gets chosen to win the PKS Basic Face Assortment set, I'll have more to choose from!!!! :)  Thanks for looking!!!

PKS Challenge 57

I created this card for the Peachy Keen Stamps challenge #57.  This one has a bit of a twist on it.  We were given a sketch to follow and a color combination that we had to use.  HERE are the details for the challenge. 

 

This is not my usual color choices but I really enjoyed putting these together.  

I did use the colors in the challenge, but as usual, my photography skills do no justice for the colors.  I began by embossing the flowers with black embossing powder onto some cardstock vellum.  I then used a copic marker for the coral colored flower.  However, I quickly realized that copics don't do well with vellum and embossing powder.  For the green, I used a certainly celery SU! marker and colored the flower.  I then took the new SU! color pool party and sponged the entire back of the vellum.  I then backed it with white card stock and then placed it on a coral card base.  If you have any questions, please let me know!  Thanks for looking!

Caleb's Birthday Cards

For my friend's shower, she wanted one of her guests to write a birthday message for each year until he is 18.  I think this is a wonderful idea!  We will pass the cards out to the guests, they will write a personalized message to Caleb, and seal the envelope.  His mother will give him his cards each year on his birthday.

 Since these are going to be "special" birthday cards, I wanted them to match so that Caleb would always know that these are his "special" birthday cards.  I used my Create a Critter cricut cartridge for the cupcake and the divine swirls cuttlebug embossing folder for the cupcake frosting.  I pulled ot my AWESOME copic marker and colored the numbers to match the card patterned paper.  All of the patterned paper is from Stampin' Up! Since I used my Gypsy, it was really easy to weld the candle numbers to the cupcake base and then cut everything out to match perfectly!!  Thanks for looking!  If you have any questions, please let me know!!!

Keeping Me Busy

I have been working on a baby shower for this little guy and his mommy.

I can't post pictures just yet because his mommy visits my blog and I want it to be a surprise for her!!  I can't wait until her shower!  I just love doing baby showers!

Throwback Thursday Challenge

Ok, so this is the second challenge that I have ever entered and it is proving to be very fun.  I am entering this card into Emma's challenge from My Creative Time.  She challenged us to use the Wild Card cricut cartridge.  Since it feels like forever since I've used this cartridge, I was game!!  We also had to incorporate embossing.  I got out the brayer and inked up the zebra print sizziz folder (I actually think it might be tiger stripes, but works either way LOL) with Melon Mambo SU ink.  I guess I was moving the paper, but after three tries, I gave up on that technique.  I flipped on of the circles over and colored in the lines with my marker.  I'm pleased with how it turned out and using the marker actually made the pink a bit darker (which I like).  I also used my I-Rock tool with rhinestones on either side of the greeting.  If you want to enter the challenge, you have until tomorrow.  Happy creating!!  Thanks for looking!!!

Convention Goodies!

I had a BLAST at the CKC Scrapbook Convention in The Woodlands this past weekend.  I'm sure the company (my two besties) make it even better!  We saw some fabulous demonstrations and some really neat products.  My besties spent a small fortune at the PK Glitz booth!!  It was wonderful!  here is a picture of my goodies.  I did not buy as much as I wanted to, but I guess that means that I need to start using some of what I have already!!! LOL!!!

I loved this card because the entire baby carriage is covered with glitter! It's not often you can get by with glitter for a baby boy!!!

First Copic Card!

I recently discovered a very talented crafter--Darlene from darlenedesign.com. She was my main inspiration for this card. After surfing many blogs and watching many videos, I settled on buying Gina K. Designs paper to use with my copic markers. It was very affordable for me! Then after watching several video tutorials, I attempted my first coloring project with copics. Well, I'm pleased with the results! What do you think? I also used some nestabilities dies for layering and I really like how this card turned out! Thanks for looking!!

Happy Birthday to my Friend

One of my dear friends celebrated her birthday a couple of weeks ago. Me being the crafty girl that I am decided to make her a birthday present. Despite many attempts to discover the length and width of my friend's camera strap I had to flat out ask her. I wanted to make her a camera strap cover for her Canon ISXI camera. Seeing that I have a Rebel I could not use the measurements from mine. I found the inspiration for this project HERE. She has a wonderful tutorial on how to make these. Instead of quilting mine, I just make one long strap out of a single piece of fabric. I also made one for my camera and it's very comfortable!

Of course I had to make her a birthday card that accompanied it!

Buzz Lightyear

My nephew loves Buzz Lightyear. His birthday party is this weekend and I recently purchased the Toy Story Cartridge to make a few things for him. Here is what I came up with.


I must say that I read a few of the posts from the cricut mb about this cartridge and I was a bit leery about putting this together. It was not as bad as I thought. It only took me about an hour to cut and put the card together.

I cut the base and everything out at 6". I figured it would be easier if I just used my cricut expression the 'normal' way instead of using my gypsy! (It was so weird to cut with the machine and NOT with my gypsy). I love how the handbook shows you exactly what color to cut everything in. That made it much easier!! I'm glad that I chose to make this a larger card and cut Buzz at 6". Some of the pieces were really small, so I don't know if I would cut it any smaller!! Thanks for looking!

Sun Fun

For the end of the year, I wanted to give each student a personalized note. I tucked this inside their report card for them to find at home. I wanted to wish them luck next year and to have a safe summer. I thought this set was perfect for that!


I realized how much I liked coloring as I put these together! It's been so long since I have sat down and colored anything like this. I used Stampin' Up!'s markers to color the kids and then I used an aqua painter and Tempting Turquoise ink for the water. Thanks for looking!

Copics, Copics, Copics

I never thought it would happen to me, but look at what I acquired recently!!!



I won them and I have no idea what to do with them. Yes, I know what they are and I have honestly been eying these for some time, but I just couldn't fork out the money on my own to pay for them. Now I have 144 of them and I'm so excited. If you are a copic 'pro' (that's someone who knows more than me) and you have some wonderful advice or some links you could direct me to, I would be ever so grateful to you!! National Scrapbooking Month

Happy National Scrapbooking Month to all my crafty friends! I'm so excited that we have an entire month to celebrate our hobby!! I'm sorry for the long delay in posts, but I hope to be creating some crafty goodness really soon. This time of the school year is super busy and doesn't leave me too much time to be creative! I guess I'll have to 'squeeze' some scrapping time in there somewhere!! :)

Here is a card that I made for my monthly stamp group as swaps. Since we are meeting on St. Patrick's Day I thought these would be very appropriate.

Elegant Thank You Cards

Ok, so these were probably the easiest set of cards I've ever made. I made these Thank-You's as a gift for my sister. I used Stampin' Up!'s Whisper White cardstock which is my absolute favorite (and not b/c I'm a SU! demo). It is super smooth, stamped images are very even and smooth, and it just feels really, really nice.

The best part is, both of the stamp sets that I used on these cards didn't cost me a thing!!! Yes! Bridal Shower Accessories

This is the drink server that I purchased for $14.95 from Wal-Mart. It comes clear and I decided to 'dress' it up a bit with vinyl and the cricut! This turned out so wonderful and looked really cute on her cake table! We filled it with the orange sherbet punch (orange sherbet and ginger ale) and it was a bit hit!!!

These are the Hershey nugget candies all wrapped up and ready for someone to take home!

This glass block sat on the entry way table as guests signed in for the shower. It was really cute all lit up!
