Christmas Card

I used another one of my new Stampin' Up! stamp sets, Holiday Home.  I also tried out a few new techniques.  I've always been inspired by Kristina of KWernerdesign.com.  I used my distress markers to create the background on the Ranger watercolor paper.  I also tried my hand at some Copic coloring.

I also pulled out the Liquid Applique that I've been hoarding for a couple of years now.  This card took me way too long, and it is not one that I would do multiples of, but it was fun to create.

I attempted a night sky with this card.  I also sprayed it with some Perfect Pearl mist and dotted some "snowflakes" on the background with Liquid Applique.

Thanks for looking.

Power Ranger Birthday Card

While walking through Joanns one day I saw an new product called Honey Bee honeycomb paper by Colorbok.  I've been wanting some of the Honey Pop paper that you can buy at Archivers for a while.  Since Archivers is over 2 hours from my home, I haven't gotten any.  I was really excited when I saw this at Joanns!!!

This is a paper that is "honeycomb" like and when opened creates a 3-D image.  I freehand cut a candle and flame from the honeybee paper and placed in inside the card.

I've been seeing a lot of cards lately that are created with digi stamps.  I'm a red rubber stamp girl myself, but I have seen many very cute digi stamp images colored with copics.  I did a youtube search and found that I can print the images with my inkjet printer and color them with my copics the same as using momento ink!!!!  I thought I'd give it a try on my nephew's birthday card!

For the outside I found a Power Ranger image and printed it onto Neenah card stock and colored it in with my copics.  It was really fun and my nephew really enjoyed it. I used a Stampin' Up! set for the birthday greeting and background paper was also from SU!

Copic Coloring

Ok, so I know I've been a bit MIA on the blog world for a few weeks.  Projects and life have gotten in the way, but I'm back on track.

If you've followed my blog for a while, you know that I was the VERY lucky winner of two sets of Copic markers back in May of last year.  Thanks to Peachy Keen Stamps for their very generous gift!!  Needless to say, I haven't played much with them.  :(  I am by no means an artist of any official kind.  I hold degrees in Surgical Technology and Elementary Education and I only took two art classes to get them (Art Appreciation & Art Basics).  Needless to say "I don't know much about being an artist!"  In fact, in high school I took Theatre Arts to earn my "art" credit to graduate distinguished because this girl cannot draw!!!

I said all of that to say I was really, really excited to get them, but really, really intimidated by them.  Luckily I am an avid YouTube watcher so I have been watching TONS of videos over the last month in preparation of using them.  I made my first purchases from Simon Says Stamp and bought some Neenah Solar White cardstock and a cute stamp from C.C. Designs and from Two Peas in a Bucket to add to my marker collection in a few hues I was missing.  My orders came in and I was anxious to play with all of my new goodies.  Of course I "needed" to buy a new set of Spellbinders dies to highlight my adorable new stamp.  Well, what do you think?

I'm still working on techniques and I'm thinking about buying the Copic Coloring Guide book.  Do any of you have it?  What are your thoughts on it?

Well I hope to be back really soon to share more of my creations.  Thanks for stopping by!!

PKS Challenge 57

I created this card for the Peachy Keen Stamps challenge #57.  This one has a bit of a twist on it.  We were given a sketch to follow and a color combination that we had to use.  HERE are the details for the challenge.

This is not my usual color choices but I really enjoyed putting these together.

I did use the colors in the challenge, but as usual, my photography skills do no justice for the colors.  I began by embossing the flowers with black embossing powder onto some cardstock vellum.  I then used a copic marker for the coral colored flower.  However, I quickly realized that copics don't do well with vellum and embossing powder.  For the green, I used a certainly celery SU! marker and colored the flower.  I then took the new SU! color pool party and sponged the entire back of the vellum.  I then backed it with white card stock and then placed it on a coral card base.  If you have any questions, please let me know!  Thanks for looking!

First Copic Card!

I recently discovered a very talented crafter--Darlene from darlenedesign.com. She was my main inspiration for this card. After surfing many blogs and watching many videos, I settled on buying Gina K. Designs paper to use with my copic markers. It was very affordable for me! Then after watching several video tutorials, I attempted my first coloring project with copics. Well, I'm pleased with the results! What do you think? I also used some nestabilities dies for layering and I really like how this card turned out! Thanks for looking!!

Supplies:
Paper-Stampin Up!
Stamps- Fabulous Florets and Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU!)
Ink-Stampin Up! Classic Ink
Accessories- Perfect Pearls spray mist, punches (SU!), copic markers, stickles, seam binding, nestabilities

Copics, Copics, Copics

I never thought it would happen to me, but look at what I acquired recently!!!

I won them and I have no idea what to do with them. Yes, I know what they are and I have honestly been eying these for some time, but I just couldn't fork out the money on my own to pay for them. Now I have 144 of them and I'm so excited. If you are a copic 'pro' (that's someone who knows more than me) and you have some wonderful advice or some links you could direct me to, I would be ever so grateful to you!! I am looking forward to showing you more upcoming projects with these wonderful things! Thanks for stopping by!!!
