Copic Coloring

Ok, so I know I've been a bit MIA on the blog world for a few weeks.  Projects and life have gotten in the way, but I'm back on track.

If you've followed my blog for a while, you know that I was the VERY lucky winner of two sets of Copic markers back in May of last year.  Thanks to Peachy Keen Stamps for their very generous gift!!  Needless to say, I haven't played much with them.  :(  I am by no means an artist of any official kind.  I hold degrees in Surgical Technology and Elementary Education and I only took two art classes to get them (Art Appreciation & Art Basics).  Needless to say "I don't know much about being an artist!"  In fact, in high school I took Theatre Arts to earn my "art" credit to graduate distinguished because this girl cannot draw!!!

I said all of that to say I was really, really excited to get them, but really, really intimidated by them.  Luckily I am an avid YouTube watcher so I have been watching TONS of videos over the last month in preparation of using them.  I made my first purchases from Simon Says Stamp and bought some Neenah Solar White cardstock and a cute stamp from C.C. Designs and from Two Peas in a Bucket to add to my marker collection in a few hues I was missing.  My orders came in and I was anxious to play with all of my new goodies.  Of course I "needed" to buy a new set of Spellbinders dies to highlight my adorable new stamp.  Well, what do you think?

I'm still working on techniques and I'm thinking about buying the Copic Coloring Guide book.  Do any of you have it?  What are your thoughts on it?

Well I hope to be back really soon to share more of my creations.  Thanks for stopping by!!

Bridal Shower Invitations

My sister is getting married in two weeks and she has graciously asked me to help out with the wedding! Along with my mom and sister-in-law, we are throwing her a bridal shower next weekend. I will be posting some of the hand crafted projects within the next two weeks. If you are planning a wedding or a shower, check back for some of my ideas. Thanks for looking!

Here is the bridal shower invitations that I sent out. Word to the wise, these cost $0.88 each to mail because of the ribbon knot. If you don't want to pay the extra postage, try a flatter bow or just simply wrap the ribbon around the whole card. The yellow insert is designed to pull out to the right, so I did not put any adhesive on the inside of the card. I used a word processing software to type 4 inserts onto a page and cut them apart! If you have any questions, let me know!! Thanks for looking!!

Supplies:

  • Stampin' Up! paper in Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, and Daffodil Delight
  • Shimmer White Cardstock
  • Scallop border punch-SU!
  • Elegant Lines Embossing folder-SU!
  • Pumpkin Pie Satin ribbon-SU!

Tip for the Day!!!

Ok, so my husband put up some new shelves in my scrap room and I decided to hang all my SU! ribbon from dowel rods below the shelf. I started loading all my many spools of ribbon on. I quickly learned that when you put satin ribbon onto a dowel rod, this is what happens......

yes...that is a big mess of ribbon (there was 3 more spools completely unwound before I took the picture). So after several minutes of winding up ribbon I decided that I didn't need to put my SU! satin ribbon on the dowel rod after all! So the tip for the day...*****don't put satin ribbon onto a dowel rod! It's won't work!!******
and here is the after.......
